One-Day Marriage Officiant License

Beginning March 28, 2023 New York State Domestic Relations Law Sec. 11-d enables individuals to apply for permission to be designated as a One-Day Marriage Officiant in order to solemnize a particular couples marriage.
An applicant for a One-Day Marriage Officiant License must be at least 18 years old and is not required to be a NYS resident. The license is limited to the specific couple identified in the application and expires on the date the couple is married, or their marriage license expires. May apply in person or by mail.
A One-Day Marriage Officiant license will only be issued if the marriage couple has a current marriage license from the Sherburne Town Clerk’s Office.
The application and fee must be received at least (2) weeks prior to the date of the ceremony.
TO APPLY:

  1. Complete, Print, date and sign the One-Day Marriage (download below)
  2. Mail the following:
    a. Completed Application
    b. Copy of current Driver’s License
    c. Self-addressed stamped envelope
    d. Check for $25.00 made payable to the Town of Sherburne, PO Box 860, Sherburne, NY 13460
  3. Once we receive the items above, we will approve your One-Day Marriage Officiant License and mail it back to you in the self-addressed envelope you provide.

If you need to expedite the process you may apply in person at our Sherburne Town Clerk’s Office Tuesdays: 9:00 am – 11:30 am; Wednesday and Thursdays: 10:00am – noon; 2:00 pm –4:00 pm. Please bring the items listed above in #1 and #2 when you come to apply.
